Case Study Description
As one of the world’s most prestigious and busiest deep-water container terminals, Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) commenced the use of Hebei-Huatong medium-voltage gantry reel cables in 2018. The first installation took place in October 2018, replacing original European-made cables on a Cavotec Specimas Pull & Store reel system—a globally recognized reel solution originating from Sweden. The RNEDAFLEX-FO cable series provided by Hebei-Huatong was engineered to match the original European specifications exactly, including overall cable diameter, unit weight per meter, tensile strength, and minimum bending radius. Thanks to this full dimensional and mechanical compatibility, YICT’s engineering team did not need to adjust the reel groove spacing, significantly reducing crane downtime and enabling rapid restoration of STS crane operations.Since then, the cables have demonstrated excellent long-term reliability. After years of continuous duty in high-load, high-speed terminal operations, their performance has also been successfully validated on double-hoist STS cranes, where mechanical stress and operating cycles are considerably higher. All STS cranes involved in this project are manufactured by ZPMC (Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.), the global leader in container-handling crane manufacturing.
